Like the Old Burying Ground, Walnut Hills Cemetery’s design was significantly influenced by the 19th century rural cemetery movement, leading to a picturesque landscape with abundant plantings and pathways, and varied topography. In 1926, Walnut Hills Cemetery expanded by 14.58 acres, when the town purchased 2 additional adjacent parcels.
